It has been a relatively normal winter but we have experienced several days of 20-30 below zero weather which has caused a few problems - frozen water pipes - vehicles not wanting to start - you know, the usual Minnesota winter happenings. However, I just heard that we are expecting a heat wave this week. It may get up to 19 degrees above zero!!! Wow! It's time to get out the shorts and T-shirts!
Despite the cold, I have to say that living in the Northwoods of Minnesota is like living in a Christmas card. Everywhere I look I am surrounded by breathtaking scenery - a magical winter wonderland! The incredible beauty and peaceful solitude make the cold insignificant. It is the perfect time to gather with friends around a blazing campfire after a day of snowmobiling, skiing, sledding or ice fishing. Or if you prefer a more romantic get-away, you can snuggle up next to your fireplace, play board games, put on a movie or watch the snow fall outside your window.
Yes, winter is one of the most beautiful times of year in the Great Northwoods!
